Galatians 4:19, says, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,” Paul in this text is explaining that he is in constant travail, or the deep dejected sadness in the sorrows of prayer for the formation of Christ in the Galatian believers. What happened? Notice Paul doesn’t use the word transformation, which is “Metamorphosis” but “morphoo” where morphosis comes from. “Meta” deals with the creative work of the New Birth, but morphosis deals with the fashion or the shaping of it. The Galatians began to try and be justified by the works of the law for salvation. This was a perversion of the Gospel delivered to them, therefore causing this deformity. The “church” has taken on a shape that’s unrecognizable to our Lord Jesus! Christ said something that was so profound about what the church would look like when he returns in a parable: Matthew 18:8, says, “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” And Mark 9:45, says, “And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched.” Could this be the church? Christ is coming!!!! Ephesians 5:27, says, “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” We travail until Christ be truly formed in his bride!!!
