“1 Corinthians 5:7 says “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:” It is important to understand that Christ was crucified on Passover. In 33 A.D. Nisan 14 fell on a Friday. Leviticus 23:5 says “In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s passover.” Thursday night the 14th coming into Friday Christ gave his body and blood to His disciples who ate the Eucharist before Jesus was arrested. Christ was crucified on Friday (The Passover lamb) and was buried before the sabbath which began unleavened bread. Leviticus 23:6 says “And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.” 1 Corinthians 5:8 says “Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” The unleavened bread here is Christ. Some churches use unleavened bread and some leavened for the Eucharist. This is the feast we must keep, and which is salvific in removing malice and wickedness and helping us walk in sincerity and truth. Leviticus 23:10-11 says “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.” Jesus is the first fruits 1 Corinthians 15:23 says “But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.” The first fruits were waved on the morrow after the Sabbath. Friday was the Passover, and the Sabbath was the day of unleavened bread on the 15th, so Sunday would be the wave of the first fruits which would be the 16th. Pentecost begins its count on the same day that the sheaf of the first fruits is waved: Leviticus 23:15-16 says “And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.” These three days Nissan 14th, 15th, and the 16th are days that Christ fulfilled in his death, Burial and Resurrection. Jesus taught the disciples for forty days after his resurrection, and ascended into Heaven. And ten days later the day of Pentecost had fully come.”
