Revelation 11:8 says “And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” Jerusalem was the city Jesus was crucified in.
Revelation 14:8 says “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Again we that GREAT CITY here identified as Bapylon, which was first century Jerusalem.
Revelation 16:19 says “And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.” This could be future concerning Jerusalem. The great city doesn’t change identity, it’s Jerusalem.
Revelation 17:18 says “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Again, Jerusalem
Revelation 18:10 says “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.” Jerusalem identified as Babylon at its destruction in A.D.70
Revelation 18:20-21 says “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.” The earthly Jerusalem was destroyed in A.D.70 “found no more at all” meaning that old covenant system.
Matthew 23:35 say “That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.”
Revelation 18:24 says “And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
Revelation 18:23 says “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.” Jerusalem is deceiving many, but notice
Jeremiah 7:34 says “Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.”
After the destruction of Babylon (1st century Jerusalem) God will build the church without hinderance.
