The Two Witnesses

The two witnesses are based on Zechariah chapter 4. Zechariah 4:6 says “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” He explains that the two olive trees was the word of the Lord saying…, but from whose mouth? Ezra tells us who they were historically: Ezra 5:1-2, says “Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them. Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jazadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.” You will find that Zechariah and Haggai were two prophets that prophesied to the remnant. Haggai’s name means to be festive, a feast day, or a sacrifice, and Zechariah’s name is interpreted as “Jah has remembered”. The true church has remembered the Lord’s sacrifice. Jesus was that sacrifice for us! 1 Cor.11:25,26, says “After the same manner he took the cup, when he supped, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come.” The Lord also remembers their sacrifice toward his name. 1 Cor.15:58, says “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” And in Hebrews 6:10, it says “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” They also carry the testimony of Jesus! They prophetically build as sons of Shealtiel, which means “I have asked God”, and Jeshua, the son of Jazadak “Jehovah righted”, Jehovah’s righteousness! Jesus (Jeshua) is our righteousness! We can only build if we have asked God in prayer covered in the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It here that we understand that the two witnesses are the church who stand in the righteousness of Christ!”
