Isaiah 28:15-18 says, “Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death,and with hell are we at agreement;when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us:for we have made lies our refuge,and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD,Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through,then ye shall be trodden down by it.”
The law of Moses was the ministration of death (2Cor.3:6-9). The law couldn’t make those under it brought to perfection, because the law of Moses created the law of sin and death in our flesh, so the sin in us was magnified by the law. The law was good because it condemned sin, but at the same time it also condemned us. The good law then, worked in our flesh a bad law that continued to kill us. The law then was a sand castle, meaning the old covenant was built on sand, it was always meant to be temporary until Christ came. So when the sea of waves come from the ocean of judgment, the house cannot stand. So Christ comes to measure foundations. He lays the plummet line to check if we are built on sand or on himself. The Bible says every mans work will be tried by fire to see the motive behind it on the day of judgment. So then judgment must begin at the house of God. Christ comes to lay the plummet, or the plum line to measure us, because if we are not built upon that which is apostolic and that which is prophetic, we will not withstand the flood of judgment. Now notice, the Old Covenant had prophetic utterances that the receivers didn’t obey. But Christ said upon this rock I build my ecclesia, and the gates of hell will not prevail, or overpower it. We are built through the prophetic, and perfected through the apostolic. When the “church” comes into agreement with the gates of hell , it operates in an old covenant mindset of disobedience, and wilderness wandering. The plum line is laid to measure the prophetic capacity of a house, and measuring guidelines are Christ the foundation stone, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. First century Jerusalem was judged by Christ Daniel 9:26 says, “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.“ This flood was fulfilled in A.D. 70 when the army destroyed the temple. But there is a greater judgment coming, and we must not be built on sand but in Christ. The Song writer said “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
