“The Old Testament was written for our learning. While we are not Old Covenant Prophets, the Bible says the law is spiritual, so we must see the hidden truths that the Holy Spirit wants to show us (Rom. 7: 14, 15: 4).
Exodus 28: 33-35 says “And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about: A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about. And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.”
The golden bells represent the gifts of the Spirit and the pomegranates represent the fruit of the Spirit. They are on the hem of the robe, but whose robe? The gifts of the Spirit are also linked to the fruit of the Spirit. There are nine fruits of the Spirit: three that develop how you act. Three that develop how you aid. And three that develop how you are. The three that develop how you act are patience, faithfulness, and self-control. The three that develop how you aid are love, kindness, and goodness. And the three that develop how you are is joy, peace, and gentleness. This is how they link with the gifts of the Spirit:
Joy = Word of Knowledge
Peace = Word of Wisdom
Gentleness = Discerning of spirits
Love = Faith
Kindness = Gifts of Healing
Goodness = Working of Miracles
Patience = Prophecy
Faithfulness = Interpretation of Tongues
Self-Control = Tongues.
The hem of the robe is where life flows from. Exodus 33: 19, 22 speaks of Moses when he saw the glory of the Lord “And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy… And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by.” What did Moses see? Moses was placed in the cleft of the rock, that rock was Christ. But what did Moses see? Exodus 34: 29 shows us the result of what he saw: “And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.” Why was Moses’ face shining? Because Moses had just talked with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, and the residue from that encounter with Christ left his face shining! In eternity there is no time! We need encounters from the presence of communing with Jesus! For Moses, the prophet, stepped into the future and saw Christ! For the NAME of the Lord was shown to Moses in the mount! Jesus (Yeshua) is the name! And Moses made haste and WORSHIPPED! Whenever God reveals his name to you, you need to worship!
Isaiah 6: 1-3 says “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” The train of the Lord is the hem of the Lord, the Seraphims stood above the HEM! And they were encamped around it crying Holy! Holy! HOLY! Jesus is the carrier of the HEM! The woman with issue of blood got healed when she touched the hem of his garment because she recognized him as High Priest! For the sound of angels cried HOLY when he entered Jerusalem and the people cried Hosanna! He walked in Jerusalem, died, was buried, resurrected and forty days from there he ascended high and lifted up and his trained filled the upper room on the day of Pentecost with the Holy! Holy! HOLY SPIRIT! Who when he came in with a sound of a rushing mighty wind filling the house with the gifts of the Spirit!” – Anthony D. Booker
