Satan was bound in A.D. 70. In what way you may wonder? Rev. 20: 1-3 says “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
Mark 3:27 says “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.” Jesus spoiled his goods at the cross.
After the destruction of first century Jerusalem and the Zealot beast/False High Priestly system in A.D. 70, Satan’s power was limited: Daniel 7:12 says “As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.” And Isaiah 24:21-23 says “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.” Their dominion being taken away and them being shut up in the prison is speaking of the binding that took place.
The moon being confounded and the Sun being ashamed are Apocalyptic metaphors for the ending of First century Jerusalem. Peter also spoke concerning this metaphor in Acts 2:17 ab, and 20 saying “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh…The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:” The day of the Lord here was the Judgment on first Century Jerusalem in A.D.70 which Peter prophesies.
Notice he would not be able to deceive the nations, i.e.; the Gentiles any more, but he would be able to deceive the Jews from accepting Jesus as Messiah for a time. The Gentiles now could believe in Jesus without any hindrances of deception from Satan. So, the 1000 years, which are symbolic for an extended period of time; would be a time of Salvation for the Gentiles, the blindness of Israel from believing in Christ, the binding of Satan from deceiving the Gentiles; and the promised reign of Christ on the throne of David in the heavenly Jerusalem. The Parousia (arrival) of Christ comes after the heavenly millennium.
Revelation 9: 1-2a says “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit…”
This verse is important to our understanding of where we are as pertaining to the timeline of eschatological events.
Revelation 20: 1 says “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.” What’s happening in Revelation 20: 1 is the binding of Satan for one thousand years. Please understand that the thousand years are symbolic and that it represents an extended period of time. But what’s happing in Revelation 9: 1 is the opening of the bottomless pit AFTER the thousand years are finished:
Revelation 20: 7 says “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.” Always remember the book of Revelation is not in chronological order. So the fifth trumpet happens almost Two-thousand years after the fourth trumpet.
Revelation 9: 1-6,10-11 says “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locust upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them… And they had tails unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.” The Bible says that “… the sun and air were darkened….” Ex. 10: 4,5, says “… behold tomorrow will I bring the locust into thy coast: And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:” This was the eighth plague that fell upon the Egyptians, and if you noticed the locust would be multiplied to the point that they wouldn’t be able to see. The locust had come to eat what the last plague didn’t destroy, the trees. But in Revelation, the locust came to torment men for five months. When these locusts came out of the pit, they caused a darkness to spread over the sun, and a darkness to spread over the faces of men. The swastika was known to the Nazi’s as the “Black Sun” or the “Sun Wheel”. When the Nazis came to power on Jan. 30th, 1933, Hitler wanted a census of the people taken to identify who were German’s and who were Jew’s. They used the Hollerith 60-column punch card made by IBM, to undergo this task. The census started on June 16, 1933, in the Prussian district of Germany. The process lasted to about the end of October, early November of 1933, which was five months. Not only does the word Stigma mean mark, or cross; but it also means to stick or to prick something. It also means to punch something as a mark incised, that is a mark made by a sharp instrument. This was the process of the D-11, Hollerith PUNCH card machine. In Rev. 9, it says that the locust (which refer to the Nazis) had stings in their tails. The word “stings” also means to prick and to point. It was in these days many sought death but it fled from them. Many German’s were blinded into believing that the swastika (the black sun) brought salvation from the mundane affairs of life, into a Utopian government where the Aryan man could be the “Supermen” prophesied by Nietzsche, and led by Adolf Hitler. The Jews that stayed in Germany after Hitler came to power were also blinded into believing that everything would be ok living in a place where it looked like peace was on the horizon. Ultimately 2/ 3rds of Europe’s Jews were killed in the Holocaust, but 1/ 3rd of Jews worldwide were killed by Hitler.
In the Septuagint Bible, Amos chapter 7: 1 tells us of the king of the locust: “Thus the Lord showed me: Behold, He formed locust swarms at dawn, and behold, one locust, Gog, was the king.” The Magog call is a call to Japhetic people groups around the world. The name Magog is found in Genesis 10: 2: “The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.” The Bible says in Ezekiel 38 and 39, that God would use Magog in the end time to come against Israel. Ezekiel 39: 1 says: “Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, thus saith the LORD God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:” And in chapter 38 verse 2, He says, “Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal and prophesy against him.” The Bible doesn’t give the names of Magog’s sons, but it is his descendants that call Japhetic people groups against Israel. The Bible says that Magog is the chief prince of Meshech; Meshech is none other than Moscow, and Tubal is the state of Tobolsk. Earlier place names of Meshech and Tubal also appear in Turkey as Mus and Mutki (Meshech), and in Southern Russia or Chechnya as Tbilisi (Tubal). Gog was known in history as Gyges of Lydia (Turkey), ruler of Muski and Tabal (Meshech and Tubal). God is using him as a type of the beast that will cause the nations to come against Israel after the 1000-year reign of Messiah. It is important to note that the reign of Christ had already started in the days of the Apostles, and that Apollyon was released in the 20th century. In Joel 3: 11,12,14, the prophet states: “Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord. Let the heathen be WAKENED, and come up to the valley of decision for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.” Notice what Joel says in verse 12, “… let the heathen be WAKENED…” this is not a resurrection, but in the Hebrew this word is ‘Uwr’ which means “to open the eyes, to wake, to stir up self.” The SS carried the Swastika flag with the words “Deutschland Erwache” that is ‘Germany Awake’ which roused the awe-struck Germans to open their eyes to Lebensraum (living space). Under the sway of Adolf Hitler and the Swastika, the Germans were mobilized to act upon the Jewish question. It is evident that they began to act upon it with six million Jews destroyed by the Holocaust. and the Swastika, the Germans were mobilized to act upon the Jewish question. “Hitler’s” continue to rise against the people of God until Christ returns.
