1 Peter 3:7 says “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” You as a husband have to know your wife, not just sexually, but emotionally, and spiritually. Peter says that we must give honor to her, and this is context with the next phrase “as unto the weaker vessel”. The word honor in the verse means price, money, or value. The wife then is seen as a delicate vase that is precious according to its value. You have never seen an expensive vase on the floor, but on the table to be seen by all. In the old days, families kept money in their vase for safe keeping. In much the same way, your wife should be your bank account. You must make precious deposits into her, and never overdraw that account. She is to be honored and spoken well of.
