“… Lift up your eyes to the heavens…” he says in Isaiah. Luke says it like this: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21: 28)”. The literal heavens and the earth did not pass away by the death of Christ, but a new creation did take place. Matt. 5: 18 says “For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Jesus’ death was the fulfillment of all so now the law could pass away. Remember that while Jesus was here on earth during his earthly ministry it was still the Old Testament era. Jesus came to usher in THE NEW! Matt. 5: 19 says “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be great in the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus was speaking to the Jews who were under the Mosaic Law at this time. The heavens vanish away in Isaiah 51; but in that same chapter they are created: Isaiah 51: 16 says “And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, THAT I MAY PLANT THE HEAVENS, AND LAY THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.” This is speaking of Christ. The Old Covenant was put away by the death of Christ; and now the New Covenant began to dawn. Isaiah 60: 1-3 says “Arise, shine; for thy light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” Verse one is speaking about the resurrection of Christ. Jeremiah 4: 23 says “I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.” But once light came forth again ‘… Arise, shine; for thy light has come…’. A new creation had indeed taken place. 2Cor. 5: 17 says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.” Revelation 21: 5 says “And he that sat upon the throne said, BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW…”. Even though the law ended with the death of Jesus Christ; it finally passed away in the day of the Lord in A.D. 70.”
