Testimony

Revelation 19:10 (KJV)

“…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

The word “testimony” comes from the Greek word Marturia which means evidence, record, witness, or testimony.

Evidence is the word that stuck out to me when I looked at this definition. The angel also tells John that his brethren have the Testimony of Jesus: Revelation 19:10, says, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Paul the Apostle talks about the testimony of Jesus:

1 Corinthians 1:5-8, says “That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” When Paul says the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, he was actually saying he received prophetic ministry, and in this passage he wanted them to continue to receive prophetic ministry and impartation to confirm gifts in them so they would be able to fulfill their assignment.

All throughout the book of Revelation the phrase “the testimony of Jesus” is mentioned. Revelation 19:10 says that the spirit of prophecy is that testimony, so moving in the prophetic is the evidence that Jesus is in you! Notice what Revelation 12:17 says “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” The dragon was angry with the woman, but he made war with the remnant of her seed. The woman is first century Judah in this context, but the remnant of her seed is the church, Jesus is the seed of the woman in Revelation 12. This remnant moves in the prophetic and Satan who is the dragon hates the prophetic. But not only does he hate the prophetic, he hates the one who is speaking which we will talk about later. But notice, they also keep the commandments of God. To understand what the commandments of God are we must look through the eyes of the apostle who is writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:15 says “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” And John 14:21 Also says “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” Look what John 15:9-10 says “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” Then John 15:12-13 says “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” 1 John 2:3-5 Says “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” And lastly Ephesians 3:19 says “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” When we are walking in love, or fulfilling Christ prophetic commands, He commands prophetic fulfillment, and prophetic accuracy to flow out of us because we’re abiding in him. The accuracy of love is the true nature of the prophetic. One of the definitions of the word accurate is having the correct measurements. Ephesians 3:17-18 says That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;”

1 John 3:23 says “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.”

Now more than ever we must understand the importance of having the testimony of Jesus! But the testimony of Jesus is not just prophetic utterance, it is the real life of Jesus living on the inside of you speaking through you, and this is who the enemy sees when he sees you. He doesn’t see you, but he sees the testimony, the ark of the covenant, Christ himself in you! And what the enemy is most threatened by is if Christ’s love gets out of you, to many would see it, to many would be healed from it! To many would see Jesus and their lives would be changed forever!
