Acts 3:19-21, says, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when (so that) the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
As you can see I made emphasis on the word “when”, because it can mean ‘so that’ the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. This is speaking of the Spirit of God Coming in the earth, which happened on the day of Pentecost. It is through repentance and water baptism that the Spirits refreshing is sent to us.
Isaiah 28:11-12, says “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost He was bringing in the New Covenant Jeremiah spoke of. Many received this refreshing in their lives on that great day. But there were many that rejected God’s plan of salvation for them and their nation and as a result would “…go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken (Is.28:13). This fall would happen in A.D.70 when the temple was destroyed in Jerusalem.
The passage in Acts tells us that Jesus MUST remain in heaven until the times of restitution. This isn’t to be confused with the restoration. Christ spoke of the restoration in Matthew 17:11, which says “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.” John the Baptist who was the “Elijah” that would come restored all things and prepared the way for Messiah, Jesus (Yeshua) to come. The restitution refers to the giving back of the creation over to the Father at Christ’s Parousia and judgment, or Coming which happens at the end of history.
1 Corinthians 15:24, says, “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.” Delivered here means to yield up or to transmit, to give over. The word restitution then gives us the idea of a ‘putting down’ or a ‘placing down’, so once he has put down all authority. 1 Corinthians 15:28, says, “And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.” As nouns the difference between restoration and restitution is this: Restoration is the process of bringing an object back to its original state; the process of restoringsomething while restitution is a (legal) process of compensation for losses. Restitution is the act of making up for damages or harm. … Restitution also has a specific legal meaning — an order given by a judge to a convicted criminal to make amends for the crime. For example, judges often order people to pay restitution for the damage they cause. This restitution happens after the Judgment of the creation.
So if the restitution is the putting down of all authority, when is the millennial reign of Christ? The millennial reign is NOW! Christ is ruling in the heavens with all authority over the earth and over the universe as we speak! Praise the name of JESUS!!
