How we look at this is a few ways; the seal of God being the Fathers name in their foreheads (Rev.7:3, 14:1, 22:4).
Revelation 3:12 KJV
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Here we see Jesus speaking to the Church of Philadelphia. Those who overcome will have the name of the Father, the name of Jesus, and the new Jerusalem.
We know from scripture that Revelation is a book of symbols and allegories. Ephesians 4:30 says we are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. The word sealed here is the same word in Revelation 7:3.
Ezekiel shows some of this imagery in Ezekiel 9:4,6 which says “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof…Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.”
The word mark here is Tav, which means a signature as a mark as a sign of exemption from judgment.
Those who had this mark or signature were spared. Notice that Tav is a “t”, the shape of a cross, or the sign of the cross.
But If we are to look at this as symbolic, we must also look at the mark of the beast and the number as symbolic as well.
666 may not be a real number if these marks upon those that belong to God represent salvation, and those who don’t have his mark are the finality of those who reject Christ.
John 6:66 KJV interestingly enough shows this verse with 666 that says “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” Could it be that those in revelation that finally reject Christ and follow after the beast are symbolically numbered?
And if Revelation 22:4 is literal, then why not all the saints of all time have it? It strongly suggests that this mark could be salvation, and not just the 144,000 as we’ve seen in Revelation 3:12.
Something to think about.
