THE EL KABOD

The Bible says In Acts 7, that God appeared to Abraham by another name before he appeared to him as El Shaddai. Acts 7:2,3 says “And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall show thee.”

God appeared by the title the God of Glory to Abram. The word glory means Kabowd or Kabod, meaning a weight, splendor, glorious and honourable. But in its etymology it goes deeper; it means to be numerous, rich,  to be great, to make weighty, to promote, to have a great number, a multitude.

God gave him the attributes of his name. He told him in Gen.12, that He would make him a great nation, he would bless him, he would make his name great, and that he would be a blessing. God is a great mutitude, I don’t mean that he’s polytheistic or consisting of many gods, but all things come from him. The book of Hebrews says that he is the Father of spirits, Acts17, says he giveth to all life, Colossians says by him all things consist, Ezekiel says that all souls are his, and Genesis says he is Elohim.

The Bible says in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The word God there means Elohim, which means gods in the ordinary sense, but especially of the supreme God. It can also mean magistrates, angels, great, and mighty. Everything comes from God; whether its an angel, or a demon, a man or a nephilim, it all comes from God, does that mean that God is evil, No, it means that he’s God; Isa.45:7, says “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.”

This is what God was showing Abraham; nations of people are going to come from you, and you shall be a father of a multitude. God is blessed, that means he is to be praised, to congratulate, we are to kneel towards him. Abraham was blessed; he was saluted as a man of abundance or blessings.

The Bible says that Melchizedek blessed Abraham and brought bread and wine, which are symbols of covenant. God promised that nations would bow to Abrahams descendants, Isa.49:22,23; Rev.3:9. Gods name is great, it is numerous in all the earth. Ps.8:1, says “O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth…” excellent means: wide or large, famous and glorious. Abrahams name was to become famous in the earth. God gives out blessing, and he has ordained that Abraham be a blessing in the earth.

The Bible says that Jesus is the seed of Abraham, and God made his name great: Phil.2:9-11, says “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” We are also joint heirs with Christ. So since we are connected to Abraham through Jesus, God shall make our name great and we shall be a blessing.

One of the things that’s great about EL kabowd is that he spoke to Abraham. Gen.12:1, says,”…Get thee out…” Abraham had to come out of Ur, which represents the place where vision dies and division starts. It was Babylon; Ps. 29:3, speaks of EL Kabowd, “The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.” and verse 11, says “The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.” It is through his voice that he gave strength unto Abraham, and that he continues to give blessing unto his people.
