In intercession there is a carrying of burdens in prayer to the Father. But this isn’t asking individuals do they have a prayer request that they would like prayer for, but the seeding of a burden deposited into your spirit by the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:16, says, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:” That means the Holy Spirit testifies with us (Acts 5:32). We begin as ‘children’ crying Abba, but we end up as sons in intercession, because those who are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Rom.8:14).
Christ Himself is the intercessor that bare our sins in his body on the cross (1Pe.2:24). But we as joint heirs with Christ are to also bear others in intercession, that means we are too carry others:
Galatians 6:1-5, says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove (discern) his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden.”
The passage begins with “…ye which are spiritual…” meaning those who are discerning (1Cor.2:14-15). The gift of discerning’s of spirits is linked to the fruit of the Spirits gentleness. But Meekness (or kindness of humility) is linked to the gifts of healing ( 2Cor.10:1): James 5:16, says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
In the Galatian letter, Paul goes on to say that those who are not carrying others in intercession are deceiving their own selves, because it’s in intercession that we enter into our session with the Father, and it’s in intercession that God is known.
